Hannah S.C. Rygiel- Artist
I am based and reintroducing myself as an artist in the Tulsa, OK area. I was born in Tulsa and raised in Claremore, OK, where I would also get a BFA in Studio Art at Roger’s State University. I mainly work in ink, graphite, oil and watercolor paint.
Creativity and art were heavily encouraged throughout my childhood. Since a very early age, I have drawn and painted. I have had a consistent fascination with the faces, eyes, and the body language of people. Stories and depictions of fantasy, Sci-fi, and mythology have always held my attention.
A common characteristic of my artwork in varying degrees, is a veil of darkness and strangeness. I believe it is possible that art can be a way of processing the complexities and mysteries of life. A manifestation of the subconscious where we can later interpret and make connections to our perceived reality.
My style could be described as “eclectic chaos”, but my biggest influences have been surrealism, German expressionism, and works of the renaissance. My artwork has been described as dynamic in composition. I am often drawn to themes of feminism, mythology, nature, psychology, subconscious, human form, history, and religion.
